Global You Video entries now open for viewing

With 24 videos of climate change action now live on You Tube, the tvebiomovies 2015 competition moves into its final exciting phase to select a climate youth reporter by 17 September.

Over 130 entrants from 73 countries have submitted inspiring, short video reports on their personal climate actions. The themes ranged from saving electricity in schools in New Zealand and planting native trees in Ghana, to setting up an e-waste recycling business in Mexico and action to divest from fossil fuels in the US.

25 of the video entries reached the final shortlist and the judging panel selected one film maker to be invited to the Paris COP21 climate meeting, as a youth reporter in December.

A second Global Youth Video winner will be chosen by visitors to our You Tube channel. The film maker whose video receives the highest number of views will also be selected to attend the Paris meeting as youth reporter for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The Global Youth competition also encourages viewers to start their own climate actions in their school, neighbourhood, town or region.

Alongside the Global Youth Video category, the competition was open for short film proposals in the following categories: The International Year of Soils prize supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the Green Economy prize supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The final six films, three in each category, are now being commissioned and will be streamed online and open for voting from 16 October.
