Shotoku Showcases Expanding Aura PTZ Ecosystem and Award-Winning Swoop Robotic Crane at IBC2026
Shotoku Broadcast Systems will officially introduce its Aura family of advanced PTZ-centric solutions to the European market at IBC2026 (Stand 12.F47). Joining Aura on the stand will be the award-winning Swoop robotic crane, and visitors will also experience the European debut of QuickRef, Shotoku's innovative robotic pedestal referencing system. Together, these technologies demonstrate Shotoku's continued commitment to delivering sophisticated robotic solutions for modern broadcast production.
With PTZ cameras now firmly established across broadcast, sports, legislative and corporate environments, Shotoku is applying its decades of robotic camera expertise through the expanding Aura platform. Aura is Shotokus growing family of PTZ-focused products that combines sophisticated control, intelligent engineering and workflow innovation to deliver broadcast-quality precision, automation and seamless integration to professional PTZ productions.
Aura TR-XPTZ Control System
Introduced at 2026 NAB Show, the Aura TR-XPTZ Control System brings the smooth operation, sophisticated automation and multi-camera capabilities expected in professional broadcast environments while remaining purpose-built for PTZ workflows. Derived from the architecture of Shotoku's flagship TR-XT Control System, TR-XPTZ is a cost-effective system that retains the powerful, intuitive multi-camera and multi-user operations of the TR-XT while stripping away elements unnecessary for PTZ-specific workflows.
Designed for productions of any size, TR-XPTZ combines intuitive operation with advanced automation in a streamlined yet powerful platform. It delivers a level of control previously associated only with full-scale broadcast robotics systems while supporting both manual and automated workflows.
Aura P2 PTZ Prompter Panner
Also to be featured at IBC2026 is the Aura P2 PTZ Prompter Panner. Developed to eliminate the pan limitations traditionally associated with PTZ teleprompter installations, P2 mounts both camera and prompter on a precision rotating platform, allowing unrestricted pan movement without the prompter entering the shot.
Engineered to support larger PTZ cameras and prompter payloads, P2 delivers smooth, broadcast-quality on-air movement. When combined with the TR-XPTZ, prompter rotation and PTZ axes are combined in one camera channel control, enabling operators to adjust, store, and recall shots with ease manually or via automation, eliminating the need for manual intervention.
We're excited to officially introduce Aura to the European market, says James Eddershaw, managing director, Shotoku Ltd. Aura reflects Shotoku's commitment to bringing the precision and sophistication of our robotic camera systems to professional PTZ production. TR-XPTZ and P2 are the first members of a growing ecosystem designed to solve real operational challenges, and visitors to IBC will see how that platform continues to evolve.
Beyond Aura, visitors to the Shotoku stand will also experience the company's latest robotic camera support innovations, including Swoop and QuickRef.
Swoop Robotic Crane
Shotoku will also highlight its award-winning Swoop robotic crane. Developed to replace manually operated cranes and jibs while integrating seamlessly into robotic camera systems, Swoop overcomes the need for dedicated operators. Offered in two sizes: Swoop 140 has a boom arm reach of 140 cm, while Swoop 220 s arm reaches 220 cm. Two base options one robotic, the other manual - accommodate a variety of production needs and budgets.
Already being deployed by a major UK sports broadcaster, Swoop integrates seamlessly with Shotoku's TR-XT advanced control system for complete control of the crane within the studio. Features include StudioView that displays Swoop's location relative to other cameras, SoftRail for controlled movement along tightly defined SoftRail paths, and multiple intelligent proximity detectors that create a dynamic protective bubble to prevent collisions.
QuickRef: Seamless Referencing for SmartPed and Swoop-SP
Making its European debut, the QuickRef feature is a low-cost, easy-to-install yet transformative advancement in robotic pedestal navigation for Shotoku's SmartPed and Swoop-SP pedestals. Using a miniature QR-coded floor marker no larger than a postage stamp containing positional data, Quick-Ref enables the pedestal to update its internal navigation and correct errors without operator intervention.
The result is more frequent, effortless re-referencing and improved long-term positional accuracy all without interrupting production.
