Reflecting on a Year of Progress in Accessibility and Whats Ahead

Today, on Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we're reinforcing our commitment to making entertainment more accessible and celebrating the community of Netflix members who use these features every day.

Because we know how essential accessibility tools are to the Netflix experience, we've expanded our language offerings for closed captions and audio descriptions across even more titles - including Emily in Paris, Don't Look Up, The Witcher, The Irishman, and many more - so members can experience the stories they love in the language they prefer.

We're also working to make these experiences even better, as we continue to see more members use accessibility features like closed captions every day. One of our key efforts this past year was launching our most extensive global accessibility feedback initiative yet - connecting directly with members to better understand who they are and where we can improve, all with the goal of driving the next wave of innovation. Building on that, we hosted workshops in Korea, Spain, and India that brought together members and partners to share lived experiences and practical ways to strengthen the Netflix experience. Recognizing the importance of not just developing features but also growing expertise, we supported a training program in the US and Italy to help writers build the skills needed to create high-quality audio description- a key part of making entertainment more accessible for blind and low vision audiences.

And it doesn't stop at features. We want members to discover a variety of storytelling too, which is why we created Amplifying Accessibility Awareness, a collection of series and films that highlight the lives and perspectives of people living with disabilities - including the new medical drama Pulse and fan favorite Love on the Spectrum, recently renewed for another season.

This past year, we received the Eagle Award at the Disability Rights Advocates: 2024 Gala in recognition of our efforts to make entertainment more accessible for all audiences everywhere. It was humbling to see our progress acknowledged within the community, and a reminder that there's still more to learn, improve, and celebrate with our members.
