KCET UNLEASHES SCIENCE FICTION THRILLER, PRIMEVAL IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BEGINNING JUNE 27

Spectacular British adventure series follows a team of scientists investigating rips in time, which allow ferocious prehistoric and futuristic creatures to unexpectedly travel into the present-day, placing humanity at risk

Burbank, CA - June 7, 2012 - KCET proudly unleashes Primeval to Southern California audiences, a spectacular adventure series from creators Tim Haines (Walking with Dinosaurs) and Adrian Hodges (My Week with Marilyn), and the first regular science fiction series to climb onto the stations screen. Primeval will debut under the KCET Presents banner on Sunday, June 24 at 9 p.m. with a special introduction by KTLAs Sam Rubin. Exclusive to KCET in Southern California, the series will then air every Wednesday at 8 p.m. beginning June 27 and span the first four seasons.

Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as both child-friendly and entertaining for adults, the British ITV series follows a team of scientists assigned to investigate rips in time called anomalies across the UK. These anomalies allow prehistoric and futuristic creatures to enter the present, and appear in the most unexpected places, jeopardizing lives and placing humanity at risk.

The Primeval adventure begins with the episode Leapin Lizards, which follows the efforts of Professor Nick Carter (Douglas Henshall) and his associates--a friend and colleague Stephen Hart (James Murray), a student Connor Temple (Andrew-Lee Potts) and a zookeeper Abby Maitland (Hannah Spearritt)--after a horde of mysterious creatures wreak havoc on the Forest of Dean. Professor Cutters wife, scientist Helen Cutter (Juliet Aubrey), who was presumed dead for eight years, appears to have been traveling through the anomalies. Some of the creatures terrorizing modern day include Carnivorous, 10-foot-long insect from the future; Swimming Thropod, a dinosaur found in southern England from the middles Jurassic period; and Coelurosauravus, a flying reptile from the Permian period, about 250 million years ago.
