Prominent Islamic scholars paid tributes to the UAE's heroes for their brave sacrifices made in the line of duty, emphasizing the highest importance of such noble deeds in Islam during the Ramadan Majlis hosted by Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) and Sharjah Media Corporation.
Speaking during the third session of Sharjah Ramadan Majlis at Al Majaz Amphitheatre Monday night, the scholars lauded the UAE's leadership for its generous support and love for those fighting for the homeland and in the path of truth and justice. Taking care of soldiers and families of heroes is akin to fighting in the path of Allah and the homeland, they emphasised.
The majlis was attended by HE Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, Islamic scholars Dr Sulaiman Al Jubailan of Saudi Arabia and Dr Sheikh Faisal Alhashimi of Kuwait. The scholars, cited numerous hadith (Prophet's traditions and quotes) to stress that while Islam strictly forbids and abhors bloodshed, no act is greater in the eyes of Allah than offering one's life for the preservation of faith and one's homeland.
However, they strongly cautioned against taking up arms by extremists to promote hate and strife and targeting innocents, including non-Muslims, saying Islam abhors all violence and bloodshed.
Kuwaiti Islamic scholar Dr Sheikh Faisal Alhashimi cited a famous hadith of the Prophet, peace be upon him, emphasising that even demolition of Holy Kaaba, which is most sacred to the Muslims as the first House of God and qibla, is tolerable than shedding the blood of innocents. Yet offering one's blood and life in the path of Allah and for the protection of homeland and to uphold the truth and justice is considered the supreme sacrifice in the eyes of Islam, he emphasised.
Explaining the concept of martyrdom in Islam, he said there are 15 categories of martyrdom and the highest one is laying one's life in the cause of Allah and protection of humanity and homeland. A martyr can recommend 70 members of his family for jannah or paradise, he said.
Paying tributes to the heroes and soldiers, Dr Sulaiman Al Jubailan of Saudi Arabia said: We sleep safe in the comfort of our homes while our soldiers fight and die to keep us safe and protect us from the enemy. When I see children of those who have sacrificed their lives for the homeland and to protect others, my eyes are filled with tears. When I see soldiers, I kiss their hands because these are the hands that have taken up arms for the sake of homeland and protection of one's fellow beings.
Earlier, opening the discussion, Hasan Yaqub Al Mansouri, Manager of Sharjah Radio & TV, Sharjah Media Corporation, praised the UAE leadership and even ordinary citizens for their exemplary support to soldiers and families of these heroes. He cited many examples of Emirati businessmen, donating half of their wealth or 2/3rd of their wealth to the national cause.
HE Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, presided over the third session of Sharjah Ramadan Majlis. Also present on the occasion were HE Dr Khaled Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City, HE Mohammed Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Media Corporation, HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau, and others. A number of senior Sharjah and UAE officials, scholars, and families of soldiers and heroes attended the session.
On this occasion, the moderator invited Rawdha, the young daughter of brave UAE soldier Majid Al Naqbi who sacrificed his life for the nation, on the stage. The heros daughter presented a poem celebrating the sacrifices of UAE's soldiers and thanking the UAE leadership, especially His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for his generous support for the families of heroes.
The Sharjah Ramadan Majlis is part of the Emirate's continuing efforts to promote a culture of dialogue and social cohesion under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It celebrates the values of peace, tolerance and dialogue as represented by the holy month of Ramadan and Emirati-Arab traditions.
This year, the Ramadan Majlis is hosting a number of senior ministers, cultural and intellectual figures and media personalities representing the UAE and the Arab world.
