A SWEEPING PANORAMA IN SOCHI - 24/02/2014 The Russian TV production company Panorama, also known as ANO Sports Broadcasting, played a major part in the just concluded Sochi Winter Olympics. Panorama was specifically created to handle the production and broadcasting of major events hosted in Russia, a line-up that includes the XXVII World Summer University Games in Kazan in 2013, the Sochi Winter Olympics and Paralympics, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia . In Sochi, Panorama handled the Russian unilateral production of the Winter Olympics and will provide the facilities for the international feed for the Paralympics and, more generally, the company has already established itself as the biggest Russian facility provider. At the Winter Olympics, Panorama deployed an array of equipment that included 12 OB vans, 7 digital SNGs, a Mobile Master Control Room, 13 mobile power units and more.

In addition to all of the above, Panorama is also a longstanding technical partner of HBS', with the two companies having worked together on the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Azerbaijan 2012 and with HBS' Broadcast Academy arm having been honored to provide training during Panorama's early years.
HBS CEO Francis Tellier's visit to the Sochi Olympics, already mentioned in a previous article, allowed him to take a look at Panorama's operations at the IBC, the Olympic Park and the Laura Cross-Country Ski & Biathlon Center. In this last venue both Francis and Vasily Kiknadze, Panorama's General Director, had the added pleasure of watching the Russian and French fight for second place in the 4x10 km men's relay. The silver medal eventually went to Russia under the eyes of a delighted crowd, including Russian President Vladimir Putin himself.

In an email to Francis written a day before the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Kiknadze expressed his appreciation for HBS' contribution to Panorama's operations, noting that the friendly support between the two companies had been useful to both. HBS hopes this mutually beneficial arrangement will continue for years to come.
