RT to screen a documentary on the The Late Late Toy Shoy

RT One is to screen a three-part documentary on the making of this year's The Late Late Toy Show giving viewers unprecedented access to how Ireland's favourite programme is created.

The documentary was announced as The Late Late Toy Show audition tour hit Galway today (Tuesday, October 25th). Performers from all over the West converged on The Ardilaun Hotel in Galway to audition for the Toy Show team. The successful performers will find out if they have made it into the line-up for the big show in the coming weeks.

Filming across Ireland this week as The Late Late Toy Show tours the country in search of talented young singers, musicians and dancers, The Late Late Toy Show Unwrapped sees cameras follow the performers right from the very start of the process, through the nerve-wracking auditions to preparations for the big night itself.

Series producer Hillary Jones said: Last year, The Late Late Toy Show Unwrapped, gave viewers a small glimpse of the regional auditions as we looked back over the history of the show but this year we're bringing them right into the heart of the process. We really want to capture the joy and excitement of the performers taking part in The Late Late Toy Show. For the children auditioning this is a once in a lifetime experience. We're aiming to give viewers a real insight in how the biggest night on Irish television comes together by following some of the little stars auditioning to take part and going behind the scenes with the team who put the show together .

The Late Late Toy Show Unwrapped will be screened in the week before this year's The Late Late Toy Show as excitement builds for the big night. This year The Late Late Toy Show airs on RT One on Friday, December 2nd.

The Late Late Toy Show regional audition tour launched in Cork yesterday and travels to Dundalk in Co Louth tomorrow. Toy Show producers also revealed that this year's opening number is set to be the most ambitious ever staged with students from IADT Dun Laoghaire drafted in to help make their epic vision a reality.

The Late Late Toy Show host Ryan Tubridy said: The reaction we have been getting as we travel the country has been tremendous and we are finding some brilliant little performers. I don't envy the Toy Show producers they are going to have a very difficult time picking the acts that will join us on the big night .

The auditionees are all working toward the same goal to appear on the biggest and most beloved show on Irish television on Friday, December 2nd. Last year's Beauty and the Beast-themed Late Late Toy Show was the belle of the ball with Irish viewers with a total consolidated* audience of 1.56 million viewers and is the second most watched programme on Irish television this century.

Once again, The Ryan Tubridy Show on RT Radio 1 are joining The Late Late Toy Show on the road with live broadcasts from: The English Market in Cork; Charlie Byrne's Bookstore in Galway and MacAteer's The Food House Cafe in Dundalk.
