Larry Gogan is at the Heart of Weekends Signing New 2fm Contract RT 2fm today announced presenter Larry Gogan has signed a new contract for 2fm and will be moving to weekends in the new schedule line up.

The Larry Gogan Show is a two hour show on Saturday and Sunday's and promises a mix of the latest hits, the Just a Minute Quiz' and golden oldies, which will include The Golden Hour'.

Larry is set to be the lynch-pin of Irish weekend radio, having been at the heart of Irish radio for decades, and appealing to all ages across the board.

The legendary Larry Gogan went straight from school to radio in the 1960's. He spun the first disc on RT Radio 2, (now RT 2fm) (Like Clockwork by the Boomtown Rats) and has been doing a daily show ever since. He has been the master of timing and lord of the links on RT 2fm.

On successive occasions he was voted Top DJ and in 2009, The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) presented him with the IRMA Honours Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Irish music over the last forty years. Broadcaster Terry Wogan presented Gogan the award. In recent years he has gone on to win the Trax Top Presenter Award in 2005, the IRMA Honour in 2005 and the Meteor Industry Award in 2007. RT have also rewarded him by naming a studio after him.

He currently presents his own RT 2fm show, The Golden Hour, which airs weekdays at 1pm. Larry has also presented various TV programmes over the years including Pickin The Pops and Go 2 Show.

Commenting on his new role, 2fm's Larry Gogan said: Im thrilled to be part of the new 2fm and working with Dan Healy to see where he brings the station. I'm also really excited to be taking the most popular music show in the country The Golden Hour' to the weekend along with my Just A Minute Quiz' and the Best of New Music'.

Head of 2fm, Dan Healy said: The greatest of them all... over the last number of months, Larry and I have been talking about what he would like to do on 2fm and he felt that he could do a significant job for the station at the weekends. 2fm may be changing but Larry Gogan is constant. Weekends are as important as weekdays in radio and the reason I have chosen Larry to be the linchpin he is the best at what he does and always delivers. The greatest privilege for me in my working life is to have the opportunity to work with Larry Gogan.

This is the fourth announcement in the new 2fm shake up. Bernard O'Shea, Keith Walsh and Jennifer Maguire were last week revealed as the new 2fm breakfast presenters. Nicky Byrne was announced as the new presenter of the Nicky Byrne Show which airs weekdays from 11am; Colm Hayes is presenting Drive By with Colm Hayes and Will Leahy is moving to weekends.
