Smoke and Mirrors joins growing list of production companies to invest in Sonys PVM and BVM OLED monitors

Sony Professional has today unveiled the latest high-profile post production facility to install its leading TRIMASTER EL OLED monitors. In response to increased demand for high quality images, leading visual effects and full service post production company Smoke & Mirrors, has invested in 6 Sony BVM-F250A monitors and 5 Sony PVM-2541A monitors through Jigsaw24. The new OLED monitors have been installed in its grading and compositing suites at its new Poland Street facility, ensuring teams would be able to enjoy the superior colour rendition of Sonys OLED screens.

As Smoke & Mirrors expanded into new premises, the company took the opportunity to revamp its technology infrastructure and needed to identify monitors that would produce the best possible quality images. Sonys monitors were chosen after a rigorous assessment process and the final selection was made due to the superior viewing angle of Sonys products, as well as their excellent image quality.

Mark Horrobin, senior colourist at Smoke & Mirrors, commented: We looked at products from several manufacturers, scoring them against a number of criteria. After looking at every monitoring option Sony ticked all the boxes for our requirements. The depth of black was fantastic and the white purity was incredibly even the OLEDs stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of their image quality. For our grading environment we opted for the fully loaded BVM, while our compositing suites went PVM. We have been grading exclusively with the BVM since the start of the year on projects including Tesco, Rangerover and Xbox and have been delighted with the pictures were seeing.
