Live Nation Awards Scholarship to Student Clara Maurer

In partnership with House of Blues Music Forward Foundation, Live Nation, the world's leading live entertainment company, has awarded a $10,000 scholarship to Berklee student Clara Maurer. Maurer received the Tiffany Green Operator Scholarship, established in memory of one of Live Nation's first female concert production specialists. The award supports women pursuing careers in live event operations, production, and music engineering.

Maurer is a music business/management major, singer-songwriter, and social activist from Newport, Rhode Island. In an effort to inspire innovation and drive change within the music industry, she founded Berklee Women in Action, bringing together female musicians and artists to network, explore career paths, and challenge the status quo. She also leads Student Allies in Anti-Violence Education (SAAVE). Through these organizations, she has combined her passions of music and activism by giving other students the opportunity to perform, and encouraging her peers to become more aware and give back.

I plan on working in the live music industry, exploring the ways the new indie music model is disrupting current, traditional industry models of artist career success, as well as how artists can empower individuals and enhance social change, said Maurer of her plans after she graduates from Berklee in 2019.

About the Scholarship Established in 2016, this scholarship program is just one of Live Nation's many efforts to support the future of the live entertainment business, and is one of the few scholarships specifically designed to support students interested in the core aspects of the concert business, including concert promotion, venue operation, ticketing, sponsorship, e-commerce, and artist management.

Maurer is one of three scholarship recipients this year. Selections were made by an influential panel of Live Nation executives and thought leaders across academic, entertainment, civic, and corporate sectors. Reviewers included leading experts from companies and organizations across the country including SAG-AFTRA, Loeb & Loeb LLP, Emerson Bran Management, New Orleans Media and Arts Institute, Big Thought, Clark County School District, and more.

With over 200 applicants to our scholarship program this year, our evaluation panel had their work cut out for them, said Nurit Siegel Smith, executive director, House of Blues Music Forward Foundation. Ultimately, our three recipients were selected based on their unique abilities and inspiring passion for live events, and we can't wait to follow along in their studies and careers.
