Scott Mills to host the ARIAS

UK, London, 29 August 2017: BBC Radio 1 presenter, Scott Mills, will host this year's ARIAS (Audio and Radio Industry Awards), in a glittering ceremony to be held on Thursday 19 October at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

The nominations for this year's awards will be unveiled on 18 September by Virgin Radio presenters, Kate Lawler and Matt Edmondson, via a streamed video, to be broadcast at midday from the Next Radio conference in London. The stream will also be available to view as live at www.facebook.com/radioacademy plus on twitter @radioacademy #UKARIAS17.

The industry's prestigious flagship awards, organised by The Radio Academy and supported by LeedsBID (Leeds Business Improvement District), saw its entry bag almost double this year with an expanded 23 awards up for grabs.

Arqiva, who have come on board as an event partner this year, are also sponsoring two of the new categories, Best New Presenter' and Best New Show/Podcast'. These awards have been added to the line-up to recognise the rising stars in the radio and audio industry.

Tickets to attend the ARIAS, together with the exclusive after-show party and welcome drinks reception are free to all Radio Academy members. Tickets for Radio Academy members will be released from 01 September, with Radio Academy still accepting new membership applications via its website.

An eminent judging panel formed of leading industry figures and chaired by Phil Riley, former Chair & CEO of Orion Media, will consider 21 of the entries with a further two categories voted for by Radio Academy members.
