The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), an agency of the department of Arts and Culture, calls on all local production companies to submit their entries for the 10th Annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs). The entries close on Friday the 18th of September 2015 at 16h00. Only Feature Film submissions will be extended to Friday the 16th of October 2015.
The SAFTAs, managed under the custodianship of the NFVF, are an industry initiative governed by the SAFTAS committee and the body of industry representatives comprising of the broadcasters, SASFED and other key stakeholders.
The Awards honour, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality and excellence of South African Film and Television talent and productions, and serve to encourage entrepreneurship and the development of new talent within the industry.
The NFVF is also pleased to note that applicants will now be able to submit their applications online. The online system was developed in an effort to simplify the submission process and insure timeous feedback to applications and will ensure a smoother capturing and evaluation process. Applicants can submit online by going to www.saftasonline.co.za
The basic guidelines for the eligibility of entries are as follows:

For TV fiction, non-fiction, student films and TV animation, only South African films and television programmes that have been produced and publicly exhibited or broadcast between the 1st of August 2014 and the 31st of July 2015 are eligible to enter.
For feature film and feature length animation, only South African films produced and publicly exhibited or broadcast between the 1st of January 2015 and the 31st of December 2015 are eligible to enter. Only productions that are entered will be eligible for consideration.
We once again invite the industry to be part of the awards as we prepare for the 10th Annual SAFTAs. The SAFTAs are about celebrating the industry and we'd like to encourage all eligible local productions to submit entries and embrace the recognition of talent in the film and television industry. We anticipate a very good response, given the number of entries as well as the overall excitement we received for the 9th SAFTAs, and this being a celebration of our 10th SAFTAs. We have seen the SAFTAs brand growing from strength to strength each year, and I have no doubt that the 10th edition next year will be even greater, says NFVF CEO and SAFTAs Chairperson Zama Mkosi.
The submission of entries will be followed by the filtration which will then be followed by the actual judging process and the nominees will be announced in February 2016. The main awards ceremonies will be held in March 2016 where all winners will be announced and be presented with the official SAFTA Golden Horn trophy.
