BORN TO BLOOM GETS OFF TO A STRONG START ON SBS6

Born to Bloom, the Talpa format that sees 15 passionate florists enter into an avid, high stakes battle with one another, made its colorful debut in The Netherlands on SBS6 in the key 9:30 pm timeslot last night. Although up against stiff competition, the show attracted a substantial 840,000 viewers for its debut episode, doubling the channels market share in the key 20-54 demo.
Responding to todays popular DIY creativity trend, the show focuses on flower design, and on showing the world theres far more one can do with flowers than create a simple bouquet. Were taking the huge global floral trend and translating it into a TV format, says Maarten Meijs, Managing Director of Talpa Global. Flowers are big business and were even seeing celebrity florists turning into celebrities themselves. Like Dutch florist Eddie Zaratsian, who recently designed the flowers for Kim Kardashian and Kanye Wests wedding.
Judging the contestants are three renowned floral designers. Week after week the participants must prove they possess exceptional creativity to stay in the race. On each themed episode theyll carry out a team assignment at different locations as well as execute a unique individual creation. The winner is named the ultimate floral master and receives the start-up capital to establish his very own flower shop and a few lucrative assignments with which to launch his business.
