American Underground Releases Annual Report for 2020

American Underground came out on the other side of 2020 with a strong finish and bright outlook. The collaborative campus for startups has now released the 2020 End of Year report.

The hub for entrepreneurs saw a nice rebound from some of the early effects of COVID and ended the year with seven more members than AU had before the pandemic.

The funding raised in 2020 is the highest figure in the history of AU. The campus saw recording funding numbers for companies led by women and/or people of color, an encouraging trend and an area of focus for AU.

That data points towards a bright and building future.

We believe that with the surge in membership we saw in Q4, the table is set for an exciting 2021, said AU Chief Strategist Adam Klein. We are seeing new people starting companies and joining places like AU for the first time which leads to new energy and new networks in the startup community.

He continued, Our focus in the new year is on better serving our members and taking lessons learned through COVID and applying them after the virus has subsided as well as a continued focus on supporting diverse founders and reaching 100 new startups with our programs and space in the coming year!

Collected in partnership with the Kenan Institute, the data in the report comes from October 2019 through September 2020.
