9 Delicious Movie Breakups

In honor of Valentines Day-or Singles Awareness Day-here are a few of our favorite movie breakups.

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason

Our favorite self-deprecating protagonist returned in this sequel to destroy everything she thought she wanted. Number one on that list? Breaking up with Mr. Perfect, Mark Darcy.

The Break-Up

As if the title doesnt say it all, a newly broken up couple does anything and everything to get the other to leave the gorgeous apartment. Their breakup fight brings out everything from their first meeting to last week, in a scream-induced flurry as only Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Anniston could perform.

The Notebook

Universally known as the sappiest love story, this films breakup is equally tearful. Noah, a skinny Ryan Gosling, is as sensitive as ever, knowing hell never be good enough for Allies (Rachel McAdams) well-to-do family.

Pretty in Pink

Am I the only one who wanted Andie and Duckie to end up together? Andie and Blanes breakup was plenty cringeworthy, but when she started screaming and pushing him into the locker, girls (and boys) everywhere threw up a fist in solidarity.

Breakfast at Tiffanys

Right, OK, so Holly and Paul were never technically going out, but there was some serious sexual tension there (making out in the rain, anyone?) and this scene where he "friendship" breaks up with her is intense.

Closer

Both Natalie Portman and Jude Law are virtually flawless as this scene builds to a crescendo. Jude Laws Dan grows more desperate and violent as he attempts to get Alice back. Its a marvel to watch.

Blue Valentine

This out-of-love story is known for its gut-wrenching scenes of lost love, but this scene at the hospital takes the cake. Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams deliver the performances of their careers as they go from brooding to explosive in seconds.

The Social Network

Rooney Maras scene-stealing performance as Erica Albright had everyone whos ever dealt with insensitive jerks cheering in the theater. In a quick move, she takes all the power away from Jesse Eisenbergs Mark Zuckerberg. Check and mate.

Blue is the Warmest Color

L a Seydoux is the epitome of perfection in this scene where her character Emma confronts Ad le Exarchopoulos Ad le. Its heartbreaking to watch her kick her ex-girlfriend out of her apartment and out of her life.
