Have Your Say on RT's Future

RT is developing its next Statement of Strategy and wants to hear the views of people across Ireland the audience we serve. RT New Direction remains RT 's guiding framework; this next strategy for the period 2028 2030 will build on it.

As Ireland's national public service media organisation, RT plays an important role in informing, entertaining and engaging audiences, as well as reflecting life in Ireland. As RT plans for the years ahead, we want to understand what matters most to the public, how RT is performing, and where it should focus its efforts in the future.

To support this work, RT is inviting people across Ireland to take part in an independent public survey. The survey asks about RT 's role in Irish life, and the priorities that should shape its future direction. It also explores the content, services and public value that people consider most important, and invites ideas about how RT can best serve audiences in the years ahead.

RT Director-General Kevin Bakhurst said: RT is here for the people of Ireland. Providing a wide range of programmes and content that people want, telling our stories, supporting our talent, our language, our national games and teams is vital for our future and ensuring we remain a central part of life in Ireland. So, as we develop our next Statement of Strategy, we need to hear directly from people across the country about what they value most, what they expect from us, and where they believe we should focus our efforts in the years ahead.

In addition to ensuring RT is better run, we have been worked hard to deliver news they can trust, important investigations, exciting live sport, great drama, entertainment and documentaries, as well as engaging children's programmes, in English and in Irish and much more.

I hope people care about the future of RT . I'd encourage everyone to take a few minutes to share some thoughts. In doing so, you can help shape the future direction of RT , your public service media organisation.

The survey is being conducted by Ipsos B&A on behalf of RT and takes approximately 12 minutes to complete. It is available in both English and Irish and will remain open until Friday, 20th November 2026.

Why This Matters

The responses gathered through this survey will help inform the development of RT 's next Statement of Strategy, which will set out the organisation's priorities and objectives for the coming years.

This consultation forms part of a wider programme of engagement involving audiences, stakeholders and RT staff. By taking part, people can help ensure that public perspectives are reflected in RT 's future plans and decision-making.

How the Survey Works

The survey is being independently administered and analysed by Ipsos B&A on behalf of RT . RT will receive aggregate findings and summarised feedback only. RT will not receive respondent-level survey data or individual written responses.

Once the consultation closes on Friday 20 November 2026, Ipsos B&A will analyse the survey responses and prepare findings for RT . The results will be considered alongside feedback from stakeholders, RT staff and other audience research. Together, these insights will help shape RT 's next Statement of Strategy and inform the organisation's priorities for the years ahead.

A summary of the consultation findings will be published following the completion of the consultation and analysis process.
