TORONTO, Canada-September 11, 2013-Masstech Group, whose solutions enable media companies to save, share and transform content into valuable assets, today announced that its Video Follows Text innovation is an integral part of its Masstech for News solution that will be on display at IBC 2013 (Stand 6.A10). One of the most awarded products to debut at NAB 2013, the Masstech for News solution with Video Follows Text capability supports AP ENPS and Avid iNews newsroom computer systems (NRCS). It is the first media management solution to allow all elements of a story, including text, metadata and media, to be transferred seamlessly as a single package between locations, production servers and even different newsroom systems. This makes it easier and faster for journalists to access, retrieve and use news content.
Journalists continue to be frustrated because when they attempt to send a completed story to a colleague in another location or to retrieve it from an archive, the video and other media don't automatically move with the story text, said Mike Palmer, Masstech vice president and general manager for news. From a journalist's perspective, that makes no sense! Masstech for News takes care of the problem. Now anytime a story moves, whether it is from another newsroom within the enterprise, from an external wire service, the cloud, or even the station's local archive, the video can come along automatically and in the correct format. The simple drag and drop workflow within the user's native NRCS saves time and encourages sharing between users and sites. This is the way newsrooms were meant to work.

With Masstech for News, journalists handle all media management from within their familiar ENPS or iNews environment. This eliminates the disruption of having to employ separate interfaces to search for, retrieve and use stored resources. Masstech for News hides the multiple logins, interfaces and technical hurdles journalists must currently overcome and lets them focus on their work. A single drag-and-drop is all that is needed to move the entire story, including text, metadata and media.
When a story is moved from one location to another, Masstech makes sure media pointers within the story always reference the local copies of media. Masstech completely hides the complexity of moving media files between locations.
Masstech's powerful transcoding and workflow engine ensures that the associated video appears in the correct format and resolution for every application, at every site, from desktop preview to playout.
Video Follows Text technology is an integral part of Masstech for News that keeps the video, text and metadata of a story connected and easily portable throughout the story's lifecycle. Masstech for News allows journalists to automatically archive, access, share and use a company's content directly from within newsroom computer systems including Associated Press ENPS and Avid iNEWS.
