MPE chord-bending plug-in overhauled

Pitch Innovations have recently launched Fluid Chords 2, the latest version of the intelligent chord-bending plug-in that took the title of Best Commercial Software in the 2022 MIDI Innovation Awards. Boasting a powerful new engine, improved note-bending, a Real-Time Mode and more, the plug-in continues to reimagine how musicians interact with MIDI, providing users with a way to create previously unimaginable chord changes.

What's New? A headline feature of the latest version is the introduction of a new hybrid sound engine. It features the company's Wavetable Synth and MPE Sampler as well as being capable of hosting third-party MPE-capable VST instruments, making it possible to blend seamlessly between organic and synthesised layers to create a whole host of unique sounds. a selection of built-in effects are present, too, including Pumper, Reverb, Delay and Compressor modules.

Some additional chord-bending behaviours have been implemented, with a new Strum mode bending each note after the other to add a natural feel to transitions, and a Flow mode providing users with control over how chords resolve. There's also a new Real-Time Mode, which makes it possible to bend chords on the fly' with just a MIDI controller - no sustain pedal is required. Thanks to a new Harmony Engine, Fluid Chords 2 is capable of generating new chord progressions based on a defined key and genre.

Other improvements include a Split & Play mode in the Sound Page, which allows users to trigger chord bends with their left hand while playing melodies with their right; support for 16 chords rather than the previous version's eight; additional control over the timing of bends; and an auto-mapping function that allows users to drag and drop a MIDI chord progression into Fluid Chords 2 and have its chords automatically assigned to trigger keys.

Compatibility Fluid Chords 2 is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and higher. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.

Pricing & Availability Fluid Chords 2 is available now, and is currently (23 June 2025) being offered at an introductory price of $49, reduced from $99.
