Famous South African singer, chef and author Natani l le Roux's artistic talents run in the family as his nine-year-old goddaughter and niece just became the youngest published writer in France. Guilia le Roux is following in the literary footsteps of her uncle who has published 20 books amid his other accolades.

Who wants to do homework when you can dream and write? Her debut is called Cinq Plumes Perdues (Five Lost Feathers) and The Citizen reports that Guilia wrote the story when she was only seven years old. Her father, Erik le Roux, said that Guilia started writing the story at their kitchen table when she was supposed to be doing her homework!

The Citizen also reported that even through the book is published in France, it honours its South African roots with Pretoria-based illustrator Juani Scholtz.

According to Jacaranda FM, Erik le Roux specifically chose a South African illustrator due to his bond with his beloved country. Le Roux has also stated that they are trying to get his daughter's book translated into Afrikaans, as well as South Africa's other official languages.

Perfect choice of illustrator According to her website, illustrator Juani Scholtz's favourite things to draw have always been animals. This makes her a perfect fit for Guilia's children's book which is about a little hen called Colette.

I grew up drawing and some of my favourite things to draw are plans, animals and characters. I love to create narratives and to try new things. I always try to explore more ideas about relationships, culture, hybridity and fantasy. [ ] When I create illustrations I want to make sure that the person looking at it is inspired by it.
