London, UK Custom Consoles announces the completion of a Module-R studio control desk for a new video production facility at the UK city-centre premises of a major international financial services company. It will be used to create a wide variety of content promoting the companys services.
The requirement was for an eight-bay wide rectangular desk configured for use by a team of up to four operators. To fit the available room dimensions, a compact version of Module-R, Module-R Lite, was recommended. This has a front to back depth of 95 cm compared with the 120 cm depth of the standard version. A video production switcher occupies bay three of the worktop and a 16-channel digital audio mixer at bay seven.
The desk provided for this contract includes accommodation for 24U of standard 19 inch equipment rack space distributed between seven sloping-front pods along the rear of the worktop, says Gary Fuller, Custom Consoles Sales Manager. Video monitor displays are mounted above the pods, each mount allowing easy adjustment of vertical and horizontal viewing angle. The front-to-back worktop distance is more than half a metre to accommodate computer-related control keyboards, pointing devices and scripts. The modularity which gives Module-R its name also allows easy expansion or even reshaping if necessary to meet future production requirements. Operators appreciate the ergonomic features, modern styling and strong build quality of Custom Consoles desks, plus the front and rear accessibility they provide to internal equipment for routine system maintenance or reconfiguration.
A mix-and-matchable control room furniture system, Custom Consoles Module-R series enables aesthetically attractive and long-life broadcast control-room furniture to be configured to meet specific shapes and dimensions from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19 inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs. Coordinated desktop-level pods with up 10U chassis capacity are available. The series includes high-quality single-bay, dual-bay and triple-bay desk sections with front or rear access, work surfaces in matching widths, corner desk sections with integral worktops, slide-out keyboard drawers, desktop equipment pods, storage pedestals and equipment bays. Custom Consoles Module-R Lite variant was introduced for use in latest-generation IT-based studios or where space is at a premium.
