The nominees for the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday 12 July and American drag queen and television host RuPaul Charles bagged an Emmy nomination for his much-loved competition reality show, RuPaul's Drag Race.

Taking to Instagram to celebrate the nomination, RuPaul penned a heartwarming message to the LGBTQI community adding that he will never take for granted the platform to tall authentic queer stories .

RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE' EMMY NOMINATIONS This year, RuPaul's Drag Race bagged 11 Emmy nominations. The reality television show is nominated in the Outstanding Competition Program and Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program categories.

In 2021, RuPaul's Drag Race won the Emmy Awards for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program, Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program.

This comes after the season 16 winner of the competition reality show was crowned in April this year.

MORE LGBTQI REPRESENTATION AT THE EMMYS This year, the Emmys have several LGBTQI nominees including Sarah Paulson, who is nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress In a Limited or Anthology Series category for her role in Impeachment.

Comedian Bowen Yang scored a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and Jane Lynch scored one for Outstanding Guest Actress In a Comedy Series.
