At the IFA international consumer electronics fair due to be held in Berlin from 4 - 9 September, optics leader ZEISS will present a totally mobile Virtual Reality (VR) headset in the "iZone", Hall 15.1, Booth 221, clearly setting itself apart from its competitors. The ZEISS VR ONE offers virtual reality via smartphone and its all totally wireless! Simply launch the appropriate VR app on the smartphone and slide the phone into the VR headset thats all that is needed to then dive into the world of virtual reality. "The special features of the open platform ZEISS VR ONE include its high-precision lens optics and its compatibility with a wide variety of Android and Apple iOS smartphone models, " explains ZEISS VR ONE Product Manager Franz Troppenhagen.
Commercial apps as a VR trend
At this years consumer electronic fair, the ZEISS VR ONE will be presented not only in the context of gaming but also for commercial applications, e.g. in the travel industry. Travel fans can use the "Mein Schiff-VR to go on a virtual tour of a real-life cruise liner and experience an un-matched impression of what it is like to be on board the vessel. "The mobile ZEISS VR ONE lets users become totally immersed in the world of virtual reality as if they were actually on site. Using such an app with our VR headset is a truly unforgettable experience," is how Troppenhagen describes the new app.
ZEISS VR ONE already available for purchase
According to the Federal Association for Information Technology (BITKOM) in Germany, one in five gamers can now imagine buying a VR headset. And models such as the ZEISS VR ONE are already available for purchase. "While the VR headsets of other manufacturers are still at the development stage, we are one step ahead with the ZEISS VR ONE and can already open up the fascinating world of virtual reality to users today," says Troppenhagen.
More VR apps every day
There are now over 400 apps in the app stores of Google and Apple. Some global players are already offering their own VR apps. "Thanks to our exclusive, platform-independent performance, all apps run perfectly with our VR headset," Troppenhagen adds.
The ZEISS VR ONE Virtual Reality Headset can be purchased from ZEISS online, and is also available.on Amazon, B&H Camera, Brookstone and Adorama, at a price of $120. Smartphone trays for the ZEISS VR ONE are $9.90 or available as a free CAD file for 3D printing.
