Sarafiwe!, a comedy show filled with drama, music and dance is set to hit the Sibaya Theatre in Umhlanga Rocks on Friday 29 July. The show, starring Jayashree Parasuramen and Lee Kunene, dives into relatable situations amongst South Africans for an enjoyable laugh.

SARAFIWE!' Jayashree Parasuramen is a traffic reporter at the Durban-based radio station, East Coast Radio, and has more than 20 years of experience in the theatre industry under her belt. Parasuramen was the brains behind Guptured, a play that travelled across the country in 2019.

Her new play, Sarafiwe!, is described as a rip-roaring comedy that explores conspiracy theories with unexpected twists and endings which are inspired by real people and events in South Africa.

Sarafiwe! Is a political satire which will take audiences on a journey through post-apartheid South Africa. A journey of still seeking the promise of a better future for all, says Parasuramen.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM SARAFIWE!' Taking to her Instagram page on 6 July, Parasuraman explained that Sarafiwe! Is a combination of film and theatre and reflects on the current climate of South Africa from the perspective of the Ama2000s (people born just before and just after the 2000s) and the born free generation.

The show is directed by Ra Kunene and is currently showing to a sold-out crowd at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo.
