Spotlight wins Best Picture at the 2016 Oscars --

At the 2016 Academy Awards, which took place on 28 February at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Spotlight received the award for Best Picture. The biographical crime film, which stars Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Rachel McAdams among others, tells the story of the Boston Globes investigative journalist unit which explores priest abuse in the Boston area.

Mad Max: Fury Road, directed and produced by George Miller and partly shot in Namibia, received six Oscars including for Best Film Editing and Best Costume Design.

With this year s awards presenting Leonardo DiCaprio with his sixth opportunity for a win, he received an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in The Revenant.

Best Production Design: Mad Max: Fury Road Colin Gibson and Lisa Thompson

Best Film Editing: Mad Max: Fury Road, Margaret Sixel

Best Visual Effects: Ex Machina, Andrew Whitehurst, Paul Norris, Mark Ardington and Sara Bennett

Costume Design: Mad Max: Fury Road, Jenny Beavan

Makeup: Mad Max: Fury Road, Lesley Vanderwalt, Elka Wardega and Damian Martin
