
AMETIC awarded its first gold medal to Pedro Mier Allende Mier, de 94 a os, fund el grupo de empresas Mier e impuls ANIEL, en 1973, primera patronal del sector y precedente de la actual AMETIC.
AMETIC ha concedido su primera Medalla de Oro a Pedro Mier Allende, cuya figura fue clave en la constituci n de ANIEL (antecedente de la actual AMETIC), organizaci n que presidi de 1983 a 1987.
El homenajeado recibi la distinci n de manos de V ctor Calvo-Sotelo, secretario de Estado de Telecomunicaciones y para la Sociedad de la Informaci n, en el transcurso de una cena que tuvo como escenario el Teatro del Liceo,coincidiendo con el Mobile WorldCongress que se celebra en estos d as en Barcelona.
El acto, patrocinado por Abertis Telecom, reuni a una amplia representaci n del empresariado catal n, en especial del sector de las TIC. Distintas autoridades y personalidades se sumaron asimismo al homenaje del veterano empresario catal n de origen asturiano. Felip Puig i Godes, conceller de Empresa y Ocupaci n de la Generalitat, glos la figura del homenajeado del que dijo que es para todos un ejemplo de emprendimiento y como creador de riqueza;Xavier Trias, alcalde de Barcelona, por su parte, que hizo entrega de un diploma a Pedro Mier, destac el hecho de que este reconocimiento se hiciera coincidiendo con el Mobile WorldCongress, en un momento en que la ciudad es un referente mundial de las telecomunicaciones ; Francisco Reyn s, consejero delegado de Abertis Telecom, tuvo asimismo palabras de reconocimiento para Pedro Mier y, como patrocinador del acto, agradeci la asistencia a los m s de cien invitados.
El homenajeado, de 94 a os, que estuvo rodeado de gran parte de su familia, tuvo una emotiva intervenci n de agradecimiento y se lament de no haber podido hacer m s en el mundo empresarial . Los invitados le premiaron con una caluros sima ovaci n que se prolong por espacio de varios minutos. Su hijo, Pedro Mier Albert, actual presidente de Comunicaciones Mier, destac el trabajo de d cadas realizado por su padre en el sector de las TIC del que ha sido un pionero del movimiento asociativo .
Para Jos Manuel de Riva, presidente de Ametic y anfitri n del acto, la distinci n concedida a Pedro Mier supone un reconocimiento de toda la industria TIC a un empresario que con su esfuerzo y dedicaci n no s lo ha sido el fundador de una empresa de referencia con proyecci n internacional sino que con su visi n de futuro impuls , hace m s de 40 a os, la organizaci n que fue el precedente de lo que hoy es la asociaci n multisectorial que tengo el honor de presidir. Por su sentido de la innovaci n, su af n de crear riqueza, y por la defensa de los intereses del sector, Pedro Mier es todo un ejemplo de empresario y digno acreedor de esta primera Medalla de Oro que concede Ametic .
Pedro Mier, una vida ligada a la industria electr nica Pedro Mier Allende naci en Trescares (Asturias) el 23 de Julio de 1919. Padre de diez hijos y abuelo de 17 nietos, Mier es asturiano de nacimiento y catal n de adopci n. En 1952, fund ,en Barcelona, Electro Mec nica Mier Allende, actualmente denominada Mier Comunicaciones y dirigida por su hijo Pedro Mier Albert.
Empresario desde 1947, Pedro Mier Allende fue uno de los fundadores de ANIEL (primera patronal del sector y precedente de la actual AMETIC), en marzo de 1973, y miembro de su Junta Directiva desde su fundaci n hasta 1987. En marzo de 1983, fue elegido presidente de ANIEL, cargo que ejerci hasta 1987. Durante su mandato se puso en marcha el PEIN (Plan Electr nico e Inform tico Nacional), primer plan estrat gico del Ministerio de Industria para el desarrollo del sector en Espa a y se dio un gran impulso a la representatividad de ANIEL como interlocutor del sector ante las Administraciones P blicas.
Fue creador y primer presidente de Expotr nica, Sal n de la Electr nica de la Fira de Barcelona. Miembro de la junta Directiva de la CEOE, consejero del Instituto de Fomento del Principado de Asturias y creador y primer presidente de CEDEI, primer intento de fusi n de las asociaciones empresariales del sector.
