The main trailer for Shinji Higuchi's Bullet Train Explosion has been unveiled, setting the stage for its thrilling premiere on April 23. This Netflix film reimagines the 1975 classic The Bullet Train with a modern twist. By using real bullet trains and facilities, the film delivers stunningly realistic visuals for a relentless ride of suspense from start to finish.

In Bullet Train Explosion, a bomb is planted on the Hayabusa No. 60, set to detonate if the train's speed drops below 100 km/h. Conductor Takaichi (Tsuyoshi Kusanagi), along with conductor Fujii (Kanata Hosoda) and driver Matsumoto (Non), must race against time to save the passengers. The film also stars Machiko Ono as Diet member Kagami, Jun Kaname as entrepreneur and YouTuber Todoroki, and Hana Toyoshima as high school student Yuzuki. Takumi Saitoh plays Kasagi, the General Commander at the Shinkansen General Operation Control Center, leading the charge to avert disaster.

The trailer captures the tension aboard the speeding bullet train, where every second counts. Thanks to the special collaboration with JR East, the film's realism is unmatched. Adding to the excitement is the new key art by Kyle Lambert, known for his work on Stranger Things and ONE PIECE. His vibrant and dramatic style brings the film's intensity to life, reminiscent of classic 1970s movie posters.

Lambert shares, It is a great honor to be asked by Netflix to illustrate a poster for such a big and exciting new movie. I remember watching the US reimagined movie Speed when I was growing up and I loved all of the action and suspense. For Bullet Train Explosion, I had the opportunity to create a dramatic poster that captures the intensity of the movie with high-speed action and excellent performances from the cast. I painted the artwork in my signature realistic style, with vibrant and eye-catching colors. I'm really happy with the finished artwork and I'm excited for everyone to see the movie!

New stills have also been released, showcasing the star-studded cast in action. These images highlight the intense moments aboard the Hayabusa No. 60, the challenges faced by the crew, and the high-stakes environment of the Shinkansen General Operation Control Center.

STORY

A tense phone call came into the Shinkansen General Operation Control Center. The caller claims that a bomb has been planted on the Hayabusa No. 60 bound for Tokyo, and that the bomb will explode as soon as the speed of the Shinkansen train drops below 100 km/h. The caller demands 100 billion yen in ransom money to disarm the bomb. The last-minute battle unfolds as the crew, passengers, and railroad workers strive to prevent the explosion within the limited time available. Will the running Hayabusa No. 60 be able to overcome this crisis?
