Rohde & Schwarz supports the digitalization of the German armed forces with state-of-the-art communications and radio technology The Munich based technology company Rohde & Schwarz supports the German armed forces Digitalization of Land Based Operations (D-LBO) program in modernizing their communications and radio technology, making a key contribution to ensuring and maintaining digital sovereignty for the German armed forces.
The selected CNR system, based on the Joint Service Interoperable Radio Equipment (SVFuA) developed and introduced for the German armed forces, is already in use in key systems of the land forces.
Rohde & Schwarz, a global leader in wireless, jam-resistant and secure communications, signed a comprehensive long-term agreement at the end of 2022 to supply a digital combat net radio (CNR) family for the Digitalization of Land-Based Operations (D-LBO) program. A significant number of communications devices have already been delivered for a multitude of the German armed forces' operational platforms.
The long-standing commitment and expertise in providing innovative, secure and reliable communications solutions for the German armed forces contributed to Rohde & Schwarz being selected as the reliable partner for this important program. The German armed forces attach great importance to digital sovereignty, information security and reliability.
The selected CNR system, based on the Joint Service Interoperable Radio Equipment (SVFuA) developed and introduced for the German armed forces, is already in use in key systems of the land forces. It enables the establishment of a comprehensive communications architecture for networked, secure and jam-proof voice and data transmissions. The CNR provides secure and jam-resistant networking with the Bundeswehr's national waveforms in parallel to trans-European interoperability with the ESSOR waveform.
Peter Riedel, President and COO of Rohde & Schwarz, says: We are very pleased that the federal government has placed its trust in our company. For 90 years, Rohde & Schwarz has stood for leading-edge technology from Germany and has long been a trusted system supplier and technology partner to the German armed forces. We now have the privilege of continuing this long and trustful collaboration by providing state-of-the-art communications technology to ensure and maintain digital sovereignty for the German armed forces.
Rohde & Schwarz is a family-owned company with traditional roots in Germany and a global presence. Development and production in own production facilities largely take place in Germany. The deep vertical integration ensures excellent quality and high flexibility. These two decisive factors underscore the reliability of Rohde & Schwarz as a technology partner providing leading-edge solutions in a time of tight global supply chains and material bottlenecks while also offering the best possible stability and supply security on the market and for its customers.
Christian Reiter, Vice President Corporate Marketing and Communications at Rohde & Schwarz, says: This major order is a very positive signal for Germany as a hub for leading-edge technology. It makes a valuable contribution to securing jobs for highly qualified employees and reaffirms our corporate strategy of unwavering commitment to investing in both research & development and production in Germany.
