Series features more than 20 field guides on history, food, art and recreation, providing an immersive tour of one of LAs most eclectic, bohemian communities

Los Angeles - January 30, 2012 - Just in time for the warm weather, KCET, the nations largest independent television station serving Southern and Central California, is pleased to launch KCETs Definitive Guide to Highland Park, a new interactive series featuring more than 20 different excursions to one of LAs most eclectic, bohemian communities.

Spanning a wide array of topics including, history, food, arts and recreation, the comprehensive field guide includes detailed mapping tools, a host of first-person interviews, as well as blogs, photos and imagery that will navigate visitors through the neighborhoods adventurous terrain.

The guides are suited for both individuals and families, and feature various culinary must-tries, like taco tours down Figueroa and York Blvd, local art galleries and weekend hikes through the lush San Gabriel Mountains. In addition, the series hosts historical day trips with guides to some of the California Missions that played a major role in the establishment and influence of the Spanish Crown on the inhabitants of the Arroyo and surrounding areas.

Were excited to debut the Highland Park field guide, said Juan Devis, director of Production & Program Development at KCET. In contrast to other aging areas of Los Angeles, Highland Park has managed to preserve and reinterpret its legacy as an axis of ingenuity and progress--I think visitors will love what they discover while exploring this unique area.

KCETs Definitive Guide to Highland Park is the second installment in the stations field guide series, which also includes a guide to the Los Angeles River and plans for several others as part of KCETs on-going commitment to provide local, cutting-edge content on all media platforms.
