Edgeware Receives 05 Cable Spotlight Product of the Year Award

Edgeware's Video Consolidation Platform honored for exceptional innovation in enabling profitable, next-generation video services to the cable industry

STOCKHOLM - June 29, 2015 - Edgeware, the leader in video delivery networks, announced today that its Video Consolidation Platform (VCP) has received a 2015 Cable Spotlight Product of the Year Award from Cable.TMCnet.com, a TMC sponsored cable technology website. Edgeware's VCP is a highly accelerated and consolidated platform for the delivery of profitable, next-generation video services that reduces CAPEX by at least 50 percent. This win recognizes how the VCP cost-effectively enables the scalability, agility and the high QoE operators need in today's competitive TV landscape.

Cable operators are challenged with meeting consumer demand for the latest video services to existing STBs, as well as multiscreen devices. Without Edgeware's VCP, many service providers are forced to duplicate infrastructures and equipment to enable origination and delivery of content and services. In addition, operators are tasked with implementing a scalable solution that eliminates the need to overhaul their entire network.

Edgeware's VCP solves these challenges by providing a single, highly consolidated solution for all device types and services. The VCP consists of two products: the VCP Edge, a highly-optimized CDN caching and distribution solution for a wide range of service applications and the VCP Origin, which optimizes the ingest and delivery of video content by collapsing separate traditional origin components into a single operating unit. These products have two enabling components, Edgeware's Convoy Management Software and purpose-built Orbit servers.

The company has greatly expanded the capabilities of its widely deployed and proven Convoy Management Software. It serves as a SDN control and management platform, performing all the configuration and monitoring functions for assigning application-specific processes both to Edgeware's Orbit servers and commodity hardware resources.



The Orbit 3080 is the latest generation appliance that supports wire speed processing at 80 gigabits-per-second and delivers up to 128,000 concurrent streams to any combination of IP and legacy QAM connected devices from a single Rack Unit (RU). This equates to a ten-fold increase in throughput per RU compared to the highest performing generic servers.
