Leader Instruments Corporation announces a new addition to its extensive range of broadcast-quality test equipment. The LT8900 is a multiformat video and sync pulse generator with a highly innovative architecture. Integral to the design is an extensive library of reference and test signals meeting current signal standards. This library will be developed to accommodate future standards, matching the fast pace of progress currently taking place in global broadcast markets.
Developed both for testing broadcast systems and as a master timing reference, the instrument occupies a compact 1U and supports a broad selection of optional features which can be activated or upgraded either locally or from a remote location.
The Leader LT8900 can generate 1080/720 high-definition and 625/525-line standard-definition reference and test signals simultaneously. Independent timing control for all outputs simplifies system integration. HD and tri-level sync formats are accommodated either within the base unit or by fitting the appropriate option board. HD test patterns are available in all recognized 1.485 gigabit/s standards or, with the optional 3G output board, in any of the extended 2.970 gigabit/s formats. Externally generated test patterns and logos can also be imported.
Available as a modular hardware option for the LT8900 is a plug-in GPS receiver module which provides an extremely stable and robust method for accurately locking multiple units. GPS can also be used as a precise timing reference for the LT8900 s linear timecode, vertical interval timecode and Network/Precision Time Protocol (NTP/PTP) outputs.
Remote status monitoring of critical functions can be achieved via Serial Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Accurate GPS referencing is managed either via the receiver module or by locking to an external source of 1 pulse per second and NMEA serial data, guaranteeing the synchronization of all video, audio, PC-based devices and system clocks.
Special attention has been paid to the audio section with multiple audio generators assignable for AES, embedded HD/SD, wordclock and analog stereo audio.
Incorporated in all LT8900 models is the Vector remote configuration browser which allows remote adjustment and monitoring of all system parameters, in addition to managing software and feature upgrades.
For enhanced security, dual LT8900 units can be deployed as a main and reserve pair together with a Leader LT8910 intelligent changeover module. The LT8910 monitors the integrity of the main and reserve reference signals and automatically switches to the reserve unit if necessary. Optional boards for detection of tri-level sync, LTC, AES and SDI can also be fitted.
Individual options available for the LT8900 include a reserve power supply module, full field test pattern software, linear timecode software, GPS receiver and software, GPS antenna and universal mount, unbalanced AES output card, tri-level sync module, NTP server support, SNMP support and 3G high-definition output card. Four pre-packaged versions of the instrument ared offered with a combination of these options.
The LT8900 makes is first exhibition appearance on the Leader Instruments stand (C9015, in the Central Hall) at the 2015 National Association of Broadcasters Convention in Las Vegas, April 13-16.
