IBC 2013, Hall 10F.39 - Cinedeck LLC, pioneering developer of capture systems for digital cinema, broadcast and post production, has revealed how major broadcasters, production companies, rental facilities and Hollywood post houses, are reaping significant productivity rewards, saving precious time and money, after implementing Cinedeck recorders in place of traditional tapedecks across episodic TV, live and mobile OB productions.
Cinedeck will showcase the multi-faceted capabilities of its product line as direct, cost-effective VTR deck replacements, plug-and-play ingest servers for broadcast, and in archive remastering operations, at IBC 2013, Amsterdam, 13-17 September (Hall10.F39).
Endemol's Big Brother Canada, FX Networks' hit sitcom Anger Management, Bravo Channel's popular culinary show Top Chef, and The Rolling Stones NY Concerts, are just some of the recent multi-cam shows to have used Cinedeck recorders. More will follow as new customers for Cinedeck's quad-channel MX include NBC Universal, Nickelodeon and Madison Square Garden, along with rental companies All Mobile Video, NEP and Fotokem's Non-Linear Services. In turn Apple, MTV, CNN, AMPAS (The Oscars), SIMDigtal, Video Equipment Rentals (VER), J/KAM, Vendata Solutions, Shooting Partners and FNTech have all purchased dual-channel RX systems.
One of the key's behind Cinedeck's success is that its quad-channel MX and dual-channel RX both create ready-to-edit files in realtime, eliminating the time-consuming ingest/transcode processes typically associated with tape, and enabling fast gateways from production-to-post. The recorders' renowned abilities to connect to SAN and NAS shared storage, plus price points as low as $9,495 per play/record channel with the Cinedeck RX3G, and $13,499 with the Cinedeck MX, deliver enormous savings compared to traditional tapedecks, with further savings achieved against the extra shipping, power and auxiliary equipment costs associated with tape.

Brand new Playlisting and RS-422 deck control features, underpinned by an unrivalled range of codecs, realtime multi-format recording, playback and advanced operational toolsets, allow the RX and MX to also undertake a wide range of everyday non-linear editorial, telecine transfer, duplication, archive remastering and post production operations. These leading-edge features also support the RX3G and MX as ideal alternatives to more expensive file-based media ingest servers in broadcasting environments.
Additional features including color LUT import, Segment Record, enhanced Burn-in options, Closed Caption support, H.264 Streaming, and Extended Encoder Audio Support put Cinedecks on an entirely different level compared to other ingest and recording solutions.
FotoKem, a leading full-service post-production facility headquartered in Burbank, CA, has replaced traditional tapedecks with Cinedeck recorders. Others companies to similarly employ the new software include Modern Video Film and broadcast network Nickelodeon.
