RT Concert Orchestra celebrates Marilyn Monroe's centenary at the National Concert Hall

The RT Concert Orchestra will celebrate the centenary of Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe with a spectacular evening of music and glamour in Marilyn Monroe 100, presented at the National Concert Hall on Thursday June 4 at 8pm.

Conducted by Stephen Bell and featuring acclaimed vocalist Katie Birtill, the concert will showcase unforgettable music from some of Monroe's most beloved films, including Some Like It Hot , Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and There's No Business Like Show Business.

Audiences will be transported back to the golden age of Hollywood as the RT Concert Orchestra performs music associated with Monroe's legendary screen career, capturing the glamour, wit and timeless appeal that made her one of cinema's enduring stars.

Katie Birtill will perform songs from Ladies of the Chorus , Niagara , How to Marry a Millionaire , River of No Return , The Seven Year Itch , and Bus Stop , alongside iconic classics including Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend and I Wanna Be Loved By You . The performance honours what would have been Marilyn Monroe's 100th birthday on Monday June 1.

Celebrated for her charisma, vulnerability and enduring cultural influence, Marilyn Monroe remains one of the most recognisable figures in entertainment history. As Monroe famously said, Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius. This special concert promises an evening where the music of Marilyn Monroe is nothing short of magnificent.

Vocalist, Katie Birtill said: Marilyn Monroe 100 is a spectacular celebration of one of Hollywood's most iconic stars, bringing Marilyn's music and story to life with a full symphonic orchestra and soaring sax section, just as these classic movie musicals were originally heard on screen. We weave these unforgettable songs through the story of Marilyn's life and career, so audiences not only experience the glamour and excitement of her world but hopefully leave knowing and understanding more about the woman and artist behind the legend.
