Bucky Lasek Boosts at Bondi Bowl A Rama and Takes the Win

Bucky goes H.A.M. in the Bondi Bowl to take the win at the Vans Bowl-A-Rama

At the tender age of 42, Bucky Lasek has little to prove on a skateboard. He has won just about everything there is to win on his board, and has even successfully parlayed winning ways to the auto racing world. Never one to shy from a challenge, Lasek hopped a plane to Bondi Beach in Australia, where the legendary blue bowl welcomes skatings best each year for the Vans Bowl-A-Rama.

Admittedly, Bucky is more focused on racing these days, but he is still chasing Never-Been-Done tricks and Bondi offered a unique venue for him to toss out some NBDs. So was a campaign for the overall win in his trajectory? Perhaps not. But the veteran did what he does best, and threw down some solid runs in his heat that were enough to advance him to the final...a very stacked final. Formidable adversaries like Pedro Barros, Rune Glifberg, and Alex Sorgente were among the finalists to battle it out as the sun set over the sand.

Barros and Sorgente set the tone early with powerful, aggressive skating, but Buckys use of the entire bowl, unique lines and super tech tricks propelled him to the front of the pack. Ultimately, his consistency and variety out-shined the amplitude and speed of Barros. And while Bucky stated he felt like he was living in a storybook, the win shouldnt come as a big surprise. At the age of 40, Bucky swept the global X Games with a gold in every Skate Vert event just two short years ago. Bucky could be competing in the Masters Class, but he is clearly still on top of his game and keeping these youngsters honest.
