Plastic Resins Inc. Selects X-Rite Pantone for Color FormulationCi7800 Spectrophotometer and Color iMatch Software help Plastic Resin deliver fast, accurate small batch customer colors to molders

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 11, 2016 - X-Rite Incorporated, a global leader in color science and technology, and its subsidiary Pantone LLC, today reported that Plastic Resins, a family-owned business specializing in the development of small-lot custom color concentrates for plastics, has standardized on X-Rite color management solutions for color formulation and measurement. Using the X-Rite Ci7800 benchtop spectrophotometer with Color iMatch software, Plastics Resins is able to easily measure samples and quickly generate accurate color recipes.

We work with injection molders to provide small batch custom colors and need the best color formulation solutions on the market to stay competitive, said Paul Warnell, CEO, Plastic Resins, Inc. Our intention is to make our customers look fast and responsive and our X-Rite solutions are critical to making that happen.

A benefit of our new X-Rite Ci7800 and Color iMatch software is the ability to create color formulations and to adjust color if a batch is slightly off rather than beginning again, said Warnell. If we are building a formulation for a custom color, Color iMatch gets us 99 percent of the way there with accurate recipes, and guides us to making proper color adjustments for each lot. If we are matching a color to the Pantone Matching System, Color iMatch provides us the closest possible match, making the job of our technicians easier and faster.

Plastic Resins is unique in the compounding and colorant market as it primarily offers custom color resins and concentrates, says Chris Winczewski, Vice President of Product Marketing, X-Rite. As a result they need to be able to quickly formulate a color recipe and accurately produce it. Color iMatch is designed to automatically determine the best formula for an application based on the selected parameters, such as color difference, metamerism, opacity, lowest cost or number of colorants in a formula. This helps Plastic Resins create a formula for cost and color accuracy.
