Vizrt to show next-generation automation workflows at NAB

The new workflows allow media companies to cost-effectively launch new channels and automate multi-platform production and commercial playout

At the 2016 NAB Show, Vizrt, the leading provider of studio automation tools for the digital media industry, will demonstrate the latest automation advancements to help broadcasters create new channels and distribute content on-air, online and to mobile platforms, quickly and efficiently.

Automated multi-platform productionAt NAB, Vizrt will show a unique workflow that integrates studio automation and MAM to automatically generate multi-platform content. This workflow allows staff to focus on the live production, while the multi-platform content is generated automatically. Stories played out from Vizrt's studio automation systems, are automatically prepared for online and mobile devices with custom graphics that accurately scale to fit any sized screen.

Vizrt will show the new version of Viz Opus, which provides a studio automation system, real-time graphics, video playout and video switching capabilities - all in a single-box solution. Viz Opus now features a new user interface with configurable touch areas that can be used for assigning inputs and automation templates displayed as custom icons.

Using the new Showmaker application, operators or journalists can build and amend rundowns and rundown elements within Vizrt's studio automation systems. With Showmaker, producers can script stories and edit graphics templates and videos through a highly intuitive interface. The tool also integrates with Viz Pilot, allowing producers to easily access graphics templates and search video files in Viz One to add to show rundowns.

Starting new channels To start a new channel today with exclusive live studio content, is expensive and requires a lot of real-estate for the operators and space in a rack room, said Petter Ole Jakobsen, chief technology officer at Vizrt. This challenge applies to traditional broadcast stations as well as newcomers on the broadcast market such as newspapers and radio. It also takes a lot of time and resources to build a production control room. The Viz Opus system is the solution to this economic and operational challenge, as it allows stations to launch new IP channels quickly and very inexpensively. It's also the perfect tool for creating podcasts, pop-up channels and even radio stations who want to stream live video.

When combined with Showmaker, Viz Opus allows the new channels to operate and produce programs without using a newsroom control system (although the Viz Opus system works with a growing list of NRCS, including ENPS, iNews, Octopus, Dalet News, Annova's OpenMedia, and NorCom).
