HP Introduces Enhancements to Its HP ConvergedSystem Portfolio for SAP HANANew HP ConvergedSystem 500 and storage plug-ins help increase business agility and safeguard next-generation deployments of SAP HANA

PALO ALTO, Calif. May 5, 2015 HP today announced updates to its HP ConvergedSystem portfolio for SAP HANA. Now upgraded with the newest Intel Xeon Processor E7 V3 Family architecture, the HP ConvergedSystem 500 for SAP HANA supports the latest-generation business suite, SAP Business Suite 4 SAP HANA (SAP S/4HANA), to deliver faster real-time actionable insights. In addition, new HP Converged Storage plug-ins help increase flexibility and reduce customer risk through a comprehensive data backup and recovery solution for environments running SAP S/4HANA.

Today, thousands of global organizations run their mission-critical operations on the SAP HANA platform. As customers migrate to advanced workloads such as SAP S/4HANA, they will benefit from a more sophisticated and powerful infrastructure platform.

The HP ConvergedSystem portfolio for SAP HANA is designed for power and reliability, while engineered to deliver high performance, high availability and outstanding scalability that is fully compatible with the latest generation business suite, SAP S/4HANA. The HP ConvergedSystem 900 has been certified by SAP to run SAP HANA in flexible configurations, delivering up to 12 terabytes of data in a single memory pool, with 16 sockets. It is the largest appliance generally available on the market for SAP S/4HANA.

Organizations with medium-sized SAP solution-based landscapes looking for an economical way to start their journey can look to the HP ConvergedSystem 500 for SAP HANA. Streamline data management and double the performance of data protection

HP also announced customers running SAP HANA can now further protect their databases for less by installing the HP StoreOnce Plug-in for SAP HANA. With this new plug-in, administrators can safeguard their databases by backing them up to HP StoreOnce appliances directly using SAP HANA studio. This solution helps eliminate the cost and complexity of intermediary data protection software typically required to protect databases. The result of using HP StoreOnce Backup with SAP HANA is that customers can perform backups quickly.

In addition, the HP Storage Plug-in for SAP Landscape Virtualization Management now supports version 2.1 of the SAP software, which gives customers increased management capabilities in SAP HANA-based environments running physically or virtually on HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage. With this expanded support, administrators can now clone production versions of SAP databases within minutes for increased productivity and business agility.

New consumption models for SAP-based HANA environments

As part of this announcement, HP also extended the HP ConvergedSystem portfolio for SAP HANA to be offered as a modular approach using the SAP HANA tailored data center integration approach. Using this approach, customers can leverage their existing hardware and infrastructure components for their SAP HANA-based environments, providing further choice for organizations, even when working in heterogeneous environments.

Through a range of services and strategic partnerships, HP brings specific expertise and assistance to help customers modernize their SAP HANA-based environments. HP Technology Services offers a broad selection of end-to-end consulting, migration, and integration services that enable speedy deployment, smooth migration, and business continuity.HP also expanded its system integrator efforts with Deloitte Consulting LLP. Deloitte and HP are collaborating to provide services to customers to modernize their infrastructure running SAP HANA, including successful business case development and strategy. Deloitte has established an HP ConvergedSystem 900 lab environment for SAP HANA for rapid prototyping, solution incubation and customer pilots to accelerate time-to-value.

Pricing and Availability

HP ConvergedSystem 500 for SAP HANA with Intel Xeon Processor E7 V3 Family architecture will be available worldwide starting late summer 2015.

The HP StoreOnce Plug-in for SAP HANA is available at no cost to existing HP StoreOnce Backup customers beginning in May 2015 as part of an early access program with general availability scheduled for June 2015. Use of the plug-in requires an HP StoreOnce Catalyst software license.

The HP Storage Plug-in for SAP Landscape Virtualization Management is currently available at no cost.
