Avengers 4 trailer gives little away [video]

The highly anticipated teaser trailer for the latest installment of the Avengers franchise gives little away but nonetheless has caused a buzz among fans.

The trailer reveals the film's title: Endgame, and teases a bleak Avenger's universe at the outset of the film.

The phrase used for the title has been used by characters before notably being uttered by Doctor Strange before he disintegrates at the climax of Avengers: Infinity War.

The trailer serves primarily to announce the title and release date and achieves that with minimum fuss, there are no real spoilers though diehard fans and critics already have some idea of where the series is headed thanks to leaked information about future Marvel projects.

The film is set for US release on 26 April, 2019. The only significant piece of information comes in the revelation that Paul Rudd will feature in the movie which hints that Ant-Man (Scott Lang) might escape from the Quantum Realm sooner than expected. Also confirmed is the transformation of Hawkeye into his alter-ego of Ronin.

Disney are expected to drop another longer teaser during the broadcast of the Super Bowl on 3 February 2019.

The film is expected to be on the darker side of things and will be competing against DC's light-hearted release Shazam which hits screens in early April.
