StarTimes secures rights for major sporting events --

Satellite Pay-TV network StarTimes has secured broadcast rights, some of which are exclusive, for a number of major sporting events. This includes the FIFA Under20 (U-20) World Cup New Zealand 2015 matches from 30 May 2015; the FIFA Women s World Cup 2015TM from 6 June 2015; and the Euro 2016 qualifiers from June to November.
In Africa, StarSat will be broadcasting a number of Kenyan Harambee Stars football matches from June to November 2015.
Commenting on these developments, Gary Rathbone, director of sport at StarTimes said, We are very excited to have signed an exclusive deal with FIFA (Pan African), the Bundesliga, ICC, World Table Tennis championships, Euro qualifiers, and the Kenyan National Football Teams. Football is South Africa s favourite sport, and to bring such a variety of matches and teams for our subscribers to enjoy is really what we aim for high quality entertainment. We realise that there is also an interest in motorsport, as well as table tennis, so our aim is to offer not just soccer, but a variety of sport on our platform, to have these world class competitions available for our subscribers to enjoy makes us incredibly excited.
