TVT Adopts IBM Cloud s Aspera Technology for Faster Breaking News Workflows in the Cloud

Leading Digital Media Management and Post Production Services Provider Selects Aspera On Demand for Fast, Reliable, Cloud-based News Workflows

ARMONK, NY - 28 Feb 2017: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that one of the world's fastest growing digital media management and post-production services provider, TVT, has selected IBM Cloud's Aspera high-speed file transfer software to deliver cloud-based breaking news workflows with greater speed and reliability.

Headquartered in London, with additional facilities in Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo, TVT's services cover the full spectrum of media services, including preparation and versioning for international sales and distribution, and news and events packaging for distribution to broadcast and online syndication partners. It also offers linear channel content preparation, video-on-demand (VOD) asset creation and delivery, as well as archive and library services.

TVT needed to ingest breaking news into its ContentSelect media management platform and publish it to distribution publishers as quickly as possible for customers. This required a cost-effective data transfer solution that could be easily integrated with ContentSelect, deliver footage to cloud storage, be robust enough to deal with uploads over unreliable 3G mobile networks, and be able to scale up and down to meet the demand peaks of breaking news stories. This same solution can handle any type of time critical content - from news to sports to special events.

TVT selected Aspera On Demand to move footage into its cloud-based ContentSelect storage, as well as Aspera Mobile Apps and the Aspera SDK for tight integration with ContentSelect. TVT embedded the Aspera transfer software inside its ContentSelect media management platform to enable journalists to capture video in the field using a variety of devices - from traditional cameras to mobiles - add and register the metadata with ContentSelect while content is transferred into TVT's cloud infrastructure as quickly and reliably as possible. With end-to-end tracking, the post-production workflow can begin as soon as the upload is complete, enabling editorial teams at news agencies to review, edit and approve the footage before it's published to distribution partners.
