Lighouse Is First Past the Post at Capanelle Rome Racecourse

(29/06/2014) With horse racing taking place over considerable distances, much of the action takes place where it is difficult for spectators to clearly see what is happening. LED screens greatly enhance the thrill of the sport of kings' for its followers, which is why a Lighthouse Technologies' LED screen has recently been installed at the Capanelle Ippodromo horse racing course in the Italian capital, Rome.

An ever-increasing number of racecourse owners are installing LED screens to bring punters closer to the action, as well as making information like the latest betting odds available to all. Lighthouse has been at the forefront of this trend, with installations at Kempton Park in the UK, Wuha in China, San Rossore in Italy and others in place for a number of years, as well as a more recent installation at Canterbury Park in Minnesota, USA.

Joining this prestigious group is Capanelle Rome, one of a number of high profile Italian racecourses owned by the HippoGroup.

Working in collaboration with Italian integrator Screen Design, Lighthouse installed an 11.2m wide by 7.2m high (xx panels by xx panels) Pi12-ER LED screen, using an LIP HDI processor to give the most flexible solution available. Sited opposite the main grandstand, close to the finish line, it shows live coverage of each race, plus replays, statistics on the horses' form and the latest betting odds.

The HippoGroup chose Pi12-ER for this installation following a lot of research, says Lighthouse's Olaf Mineo, who oversaw the sale and installation of the screen, as well as providing technical training for the onsite technicians.

Lighthouse screens have been installed at a number of other racecourses and the Group was very impressed with the fact that many of them have been in heavy use for over five years, but all have been virtually maintenance-free and still work perfectly. We are sure the installation at Capanelle will be no exception, the owners are very happy with their new screen.
