HEROCast Helps Chronicle Journey down Record Setting Water Slide Live on NBC

History was made on July 10th, 2015, when the Guinness Book of World Records officially certified the Worlds Longest Inflatable Water Slide in Vernon, New Jersey, USA. The slide is 1,975 feet long (600m), weighs 7 tons (6,350kg) and took 600 hours to construct on the ski slopes of Mountain Creek.

The slides first official rider was Jenna Wolfe of NBCs The Today Show, who braved freezing cold water and a few bumps along the route as she headed down the mountain.

To broadcast the journey live on national TV, a special mount was constructed with a GoPro HERO4 Camera and Vislinks HEROCast BacPac transmitter that was affixed to the front of her foam mat. HEROCast is the smallest and lightest RF transmitter from Vislink, and is designed specifically to integrate with the GoPro HERO 4, HERO 4 Black and HERO 3+ edition cameras.

The water resistant nature of both products allowed the live broadcast to take place, in spite of complete immersion at times. Coverage was seamless, with extremely low delay, allowing the producer to cut back and forth between the studio and Jenna.

When Jenna reached the bottom, she presented the creator, Jimi Hunt of New Zealand, with official certification from the Guinness Book World Records.
