Award-winning actor Abdul Khoza who currently plays the character of Nqoba in The Wife recently opened up about his road to stardom from co-winning the 2011 Amstel Class Act competition, securing roles in several TV shows to being nominated for best actor' in the 2022 DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Award.

HARD WORK PAYS OFF' The Wife actor Abdul Khoza - who's been nominated for a DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Award believes that his hard work is finally paying off.

The actor tells Sowetan that he's always had to work twice as hard to be where he is today.
There's not much school that came into me being an actor because I came into this industry via a competition.
Khoza co-won the Class Act competition in 2011 and has since starred in shows such as Intersections, Tempy Pushas, The Road, Durban Gen, Ring of Lies, Netflix's series Kings of Joburg and Isibaya, and many more.
He's been nominated under the best actor' category alongside his co-star Bonko Khoza who plays the character of Mqhele in The Wife Zolisa Xaluva who plays the character of Melusi in Gomora Thapelo Sebogodi who plays the character of Kabelo in The River and Vusi Kunene who plays the character of Funani in House of Zwide.

ABDUL KHOZA BAGS A SAFTA AWARD He's also starred in Uzalo where he played a doctor before moving on to The Road which got canned in 2016 due to insufficient viewers.
He then resigned from his job as a fireman and landed a role in Isibaya as Khapela which scored him a SAFTA (South African Film and Television Award) in 2019.
Isibaya was another great validation because a Safta [SA Film and Television Award] came out of it in 2019.
I had taken a role that made an impact, enough to earn me an award, and that was reassuring.
Khoza adds that he's just happy to work because his intentions were never to bag any awards.
The awards and nominations are just validation that I am no longer the Class Act boy because that shadow is very hard to get rid of.
I have been able to cement myself as an actor and as a talent. I sometimes still can't believe that I get to do what I love and get paid for it.
