Shiver to reveal The Nation's Favourite Motown Song for ITV

New commission follows the huge ratings and album sales of The Nation's Favourite Elvis Song.

ITV Studios' factual division, Shiver has been commissioned by ITV to produce new primetime special The Nation's Favourite Motown Song, following the success of The Nation's Favourite Elvis Song.

The Nation's Favourite Motown Song (1 x 90') will tell the story behind 20 of Motown's best-loved songs. It will explore the label which became the American soundtrack of the Sixties and beyond, creating a one-stop factory of hit songs and a sophisticated style which set the agenda for generations of pop stars to come. The documentary special will feature new interviews with Motown stars alongside footage of the greatest hits from the label's iconic artists. It will air in the summer on ITV.

Mark Robinson, Creative Director, Shiver said: Motown is ideally suited to the The Nation's Favourite format, which celebrates the greatest popular music acts of our lifetimes. This special explores the fascinating background to some of the best-loved Motown songs and will ultimately reveal The Nation's Favourite Motown Song.

The Nations Favourite Motown Song is a brilliant and delicious way to celebrate 20 three-minute slices of musical genius."

Motown is the latest musical institution to be celebrated by Shiver's The Nation's Favourite format following the success of The Nation's Favourite Elvis Song, which aired on ITV in November 2013 to an audience of 5.2 million viewers. The Sony Music album that accompanied the show recently went platinum with over 300,000 sales, giving the King of Rock N' Roll his 50th top ten album in the UK.

The Nation's Favourite Motown Song will be voted for by a representative panel of ITV viewers from across the country.

The Nation's Favourite Motown Song is commissioned for ITV by Priya Singh, Factual Commissioning Editor, with Richard Klein, Director of Factual. It is produced by John Piper and executive produced by Mark Robinson for Shiver and Iain Funnell for Globe/Universal.
