Stepping Out

Ever had a breakthrough that makes you totally change the way you think about something? To the point you actually DO something about it? This is what my new Fit Bit has done for me.

I was on vacation with a couple of friends from CA whom I haven't seen for some time. They both looked more rested, slimmer and fitter than I remembered. And, this was BEFORE vacation. I was, frankly, surprised since they both are in high tech sales, travel every week and work non-stop. I asked them what they've been doing to look so great. Both said, My Fit Bit changed my life.

Keep on Moving, Moving, Moving

When I got home, I read up on Fit Bits. I thought how could using a pedometer the size of a thumb drive change anything, let alone my life? That said; if it worked for them, it could work for me. So, I decided to give it a go. The strange thing is it really worked. Now I make an effort to avoid my car and walk, hike and take the stairs whenever I can. Competing with friends and family is helping me to increase my mileage each week. I'm getting fit, having fun and saving money on my health insurance.

The Catalyst

I continue to be surprised that, despite my best intentions for good health, it took something from outside to get me motivated. I knew I should do more, but it took the nudge from a web-based techno step counter to start me off. It's the same for many of us at work. You know you should be improving your process. Our intention is to do so. But like the Fit Bit, maybe a small expenditure on outside help could kick things off and set the ball rolling in your work life.
