Future digital trends at upcoming Reink Media

Former Google director Frank Golding will join BBC Future Media director Ralph Rivera and radio futurologist James Cridland at Rethink Media, Birmingham City University's annual digital media conference, on Wednesday 18 March.

Video will be displayed on literally everything soon , predicts Golding, who previously spent eight years working at ESPN, the largest sports media network in the United States.

TV sets of the future will be screenless frames through which holograms appear. We already have audio induction but I'm envisioning power induction next. By wearing a certain type of device, our entire bodies will be power sources which allow us to power very small devices remotely.

BBC Future Media's Rivera will also be speaking at the event. Rivera is responsible for the development of the BBC's interactive services BBC Online and BBC Red Button. An executive with extensive experience in global digital media, he was appointed as BBC's director of Digital Media in November 2010 before being promoted to director of Future Media in March 2011. Rivera joined the BBC from Major League Gaming in New York, where he was responsible for product development for the largest professional video game league in the world.

Hosted by The Gadget Show's Jason Bradbury, other speakers at this year's event include vloggers Lily Pebbles and Anna Gardner, who both draw in over 1 million video views to their YouTube channels each month.

Rahul Chakkara, director of digital at Talk Talk, will also address the issue of future digital trends.

As well as keynote sessions, Rethink Media will also feature panel discussions, an interview session with vloggers and bloggers, and an opportunity for speakers to answer questions from the audience.

Rethink Media 2015 forms part of Birmingham Digital Week, a week-long series of events highlighting Birmingham's burgeoning digital sector. Organised by Birmingham City University, the conference is now in its fourth year.
