Valley Film Festival Announces 20th Anniversary Festival Opening Film TAKE ME TO TARZANA

The Valley Film Festival announced today that Take Me to Tarzana will be presented as the 2020 festival's Opening Night Film at Regency 16 at The Plant in Van Nuys. The presentation will mark the official world premiere for the film that won the Gold Remi Award for Best Feature Comedy at the 53rd Worldfest-Houston (whose jury named top films, though the fest itself was postponed).

Take Me to Tarzana is a dark comedy about fighting back against the corporate chicanery, tech bro culture, and underhanded tactics of today s big data companies. Struggling college grads get wrapped up in the nefarious dealings of an evil data-tracking company, setting off a hilarious chain of events. The film stars Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls, Cheaper by the Dozen 2, Cake Wars), Samantha Robinson (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Love Witch, Netflix's Soundtrack), and Andrew Creer (Netflix's You, Fox's Lethal Weapon, Rip Tide).

This highly anticipated opening night feature is the perfect melding of our festival mission, audience, and location, said Festival Director Tracey Adlai. "The film is a love letter to life in the Valley, and it is such an honor for us to premiere Take Me to Tarzana in front of a home audience at the 20th Valley Film Festival."

According to writer/director Maceo Greenberg, Take Me to Tarzana is a tale about the millennial experience in America, and it is a story that I needed to tell, Greenberg said. Stagnant wages, immense student loan debt, and the ever-rising costs of living in this country have created a void into which many of the younger generation have fallen. This is also a story that s crafted to give us a collective laugh. It s bizarre, outlandish and sexy at times, but most of all, it s meant to be a fun and entertaining cinematic journey.

"We are so excited to share this comedy feature film that brings to the forefront issues of gender inequality in the workplace and the male-dominated tech startup industry. It s been such a gift to be a producer on a film that has such strong, complex female characters, and I m proud to be a female artist on the film both on screen and behind the scenes, added producer Desiree Staples.
