As anyone who has ever had to mess around with cotton buds and sprays to clean buzzing or crackling connectors knows, keeping contacts clean in the studio or on stage can be a pain. US accessories manufacturer Stedman has recently announced some neat solutions to simplify the process.

There are three kits in the new PureConnect range: the GP1 Gig Pack aimed at live guitarists, the affordable SK1 Studio Kit, for use in the studio, and the top-of-the-range PK2 Pro Kit. Each contains a variety of precut cleaning pads, plus exchangeable felt cleaning tips which are specially designed to clean male and female connectors and are slotted into grips supplied with all three kits for convenient handling and use. A supply of DeoxIT cleaning fluid is also provided with each kit, and refill packs containing more pads, cleaning tips and fluid are available.

As the guitarist-orientated option, the GP1 logically focusses on quarter-inch connectors and is supplied in a compact tin designed to fit in a guitar case, while the studio-orientated SK1 and PK2 are designed for both quarter-inch and XLR connectors, and come in larger cases.
