This year at NAB we're introducing something big figuratively speaking.

The EVO Prodigy Desktop. Prodigy Desktop is the first of its kind a small and quiet desktop shared storage platform designed for compressed workflows. Like its bigger siblings it runs the EVO OS and includes ShareBrowser, our easy-to-use asset management software.

Prodigy Desktop gives small workgroups some of the most powerful workflow tools available in a storage appliance, and it fits neatly on a desk. (Or under it, if you'd rather not show off.)

The EVO Prodigy Desktop enables centralized network storage workflow and asset management for two user workgroups, especially in areas with limited space, limited power, or no server rack.

It's a four bay unit that accommodates 3.5 drives, up to 32TB, and it includes two GbE ports (expandable) so that you can connect your workstations directly to it without using an Ethernet switch. Prodigy is also available in a 1RU chassis.

EVO Prodigy Desktop gives editors the convenience of shared storage, in a small and affordable footprint. It also adds the major benefits of RAID, cloud integration, and ShareBrowser, making it the most feature rich and editor-friendly desktop storage device available. As a workflow appliance, Prodigy is the perfect solution for users of aging SAN systems who will now be able to affordably gain the project sharing, asset management, and collaborative workflow benefits offered by EVO and ShareBrowser.

We needed to build a server solution for small teams working in compressed codec workflows that addressed three major problems with desktop storage devices. They are usually limited in capacity, RAID protection, and they fail at providing a collaborative environment. The trick with Prodigy Desktop was to address all three of these points, and make it quiet and affordable.
