Sky appoints new Head of Kids Content

Sky has today announced Lucy Murphy will become its new Head of Kids Content. Lucy has over 20 years of experience in producing and brand managing shows for children's and family audiences. She will help ensure Sky continues to offer the most compelling kids content presented in the most creative and appealing way. Lucy will take up the role in November and will report to Director of Entertainment, Stuart Murphy.

The newly created role includes overseeing the children's section of Sky's on demand library which recently saw the number of episodes of kids shows available grow from 700 to 4,000 episodes. Sky is home to more episodes of the most-watched kids' shows than any other provider in the UK.

Lucy will also be involved with the development of Sky's new kids app expected to launch in early 2016. She will work closely with ustwo: designers of Monument Valley, winner of Apple's 2014 Design Award iPad game of the year and two BAFTAs in delivering the product. The app will mean children in Sky homes can access their favourite shows in a way that best suits them in a fun and intuitive way but with safety options such as filters, usage limits and a bedtime' setting to give parents peace of mind.

As a Producer, Script Editor and Development Executive, Lucy has worked on over 500 episodes of children's shows ranging from Horrid Henry, The Gruffalo and Aardman's Tate Movie Project for a diverse slate of clients from small indies to major international media groups. Most recently Lucy exec produced hit CBeebies show Bing Bunny for Acamar Films. Lucy is currently Creative Director and Head of Content at Azoomee, a new video on demand platform for kids.
