
The satellite, the technology most used by Europeans to receive TV in SD and HD De los 249 millones de hogares con TV en Europa, el 35% lo hacen a trav s del sat lite (86.2 millones de hogares), seguidos de la tecnolog a terrestre (29%), el cable (27%) y la IPTV (9%). M s de 86 millones de hogares ven la TV en alta definici n, y de stos, el 44.6% (38.34 millones) mediante recepci n por sat lite.
The international satellite operator SES ha presentado hoy en Madrid los resultados del Satellite Monitor, el estudio anual elaborado por el Instituto DYM que analiza el mercado televisivo en Europa, a finales de 2013, en funci n de las tecnolog as empleadas para su recepci n: TDT, sat lite, cable e IPTV.
Sobre una base de 249 millones de hogares con TV en Europa, el estudio concluye que el sat lite es la tecnolog a preferida por los europeos para recibir la televisi n con 86.2 millones de hogares (35%), seguida de la tecnolog a terrestre (29%), el cable (27%) y la IPTV (9%).
SES contin a incrementando su liderazgo en Europa, el 75% de los hogares con recepci n directa al sat lite (DTH) en 2013 lo hacen a trav s de sus sat lites. (vs/ 73% al final de 2012). En esta l nea, y desde primeros de marzo, la Corporaci n RTVE transmite en abierto y para toda Europa, sus canales TVE Internacional, Canal 24 Horas, as como 6 canales de radio, a trav s de los sat lites de SES y de su posici n orbital 19,2 Este. Una soluci n por la que tambi n optan desde hace varios a os los canales auton micos de Galicia y de Andaluc a.
En Espa a, y sobre una base de 16,85 millones de hogares, el informe refleja que todas las tecnolog as estabilizan su posici n, con ligeras p rdidas de penetraci n del sat lite (-0.75%), cable (-1.61%) e IPTV (-7.79%) e incremento de la TDT ( 0.33%).
En concreto, al cierre de 2013, el sat lite estaba presente en 2,66 millones de hogares espa oles, mientras que al final de 2012 eran 2.68 millones de hogares los que contaban con recepci n por sat lite en nuestro pa s. Una tendencia que apunta, al menos, hacia una cierta estabilidad. Del total, 1,62 millones de hogares son receptores de televisi n de pago a trav s de Canal , mientras que 1,04 reciben televisi n en abierto v a sat lite (modalidad que gana 80.000 usuarios respecto al pasado a o).
En cuanto al resto de tecnolog as, la TDT incrementa su recepci n de los 12,02 a los 12,06 millones de hogares y descienden el cable (de los 1,46 a los 1,42 millones de hogares) y la televisi n v a IP (de los 0,77 a los 0,71 millones de hogares).

En Europa, el n mero de hogares que recibe HD es de 86 millones. El total de las tecnolog as, excepto la TDT, mejoran susn meros respecto al a o anterior. As , el sat lite pasa de 34,66 a 38,34 millones de hogares (el 45% de los hogares europeos con tecnolog a sat lite ya ve la TV en HD), el cable pasa de los 18,29 a los 21,06 millones de hogares, la IPTV pasa de los 8,31 a los 12,04 millones y la TDT desciende de los 14,70 a los 14,62 millones de hogares. Los sat lites de SES difunden 488 canales HD en Europa respecto a los 356 del periodo anterior.
En Espa a, y tambi n respecto a la Alta Definici n (HD), todas las tecnolog as mejoran sus cifras respecto al periodo anterior. El sat lite crece un 8.3% hasta los 1,04 millones de los que 0.63millones son usuarios de iPlus de Canal y por tanto reciben 34 canales HD exclusivamente a trav s de SES. El cable alcanza los 670.000 hogares y crece un 34%; la IPTV crece un 10.7% y difunde contenidos HD en 310.000 hogares espa oles. La TDT crece un 6.4% y llega en Alta Definici n a 5,83 millones de hogares; estos usuarios reciben 6 canales nacionales en Alta Definici n.
Igualmente en Espa a, y a trav s de la posici n orbital principal (19.2 E) de SES, la misma que utiliza Canal , se tiene acceso a 47 canales europeos de alta definici n gratuitos.

Los hogares espa oles que reciben la televisi n de forma directa (DTH) a trav s de los sat lite de SES son los mismos que en el periodo anterior (2,21 millones de hogares).
Respecto al n mero de hogares que reciben de forma indirecta la se al del sat lite a trav s del cable o de IPTV, en el primer caso se produce un ligero descenso (de los 1,13 a los 1,07 millones de hogares, en l nea con el descenso de penetraci n del cable en Espa a) mientras que el segundo tambi n tenemos que hablar de estabilidad respeto a 2012 (0,65 millones de hogares).
Tal y como ha apuntado Luis Sah n, director general de SES en Espa a, los sat lites de la compa a llegan al 83% del total de hogares espa oles con este tipo de recepci n (DTH), concretamente a trav s de la posici n orbital 19.2 Este, consolidando su posici n l der como operador de sat lites en Espa a, no solo por su penetraci n en los hogares, sino tambi n por el n mero de canales de Alta Definici n accesibles, m s del 52% de todos los disponibles en nuestro mercado.
El directivo ha se alado que pese a que en a os pasados sufrimos una p rdida en el n mero de hogares que reciben la televisi n a trav s del sat lite de forma indirecta por su distribuci n a trav s de cable e IPTV, debido principalmente al impacto por la disminuci n de penetraci n de stas tecnolog as, la recepci n directa del sat lite al hogar (DTH) se ha mantenido estable en los ltimos a os en el entorno de los 2.2 millones de usuarios .
A d a de hoy, la penetraci n de SES en Espa a depende en gran medida de la televisi n de pago con Canal , y el principio de la recuperaci n econ mica es un buen s ntoma para este mercado. Sin embargo, el crecimiento de la penetraci n de SES en abierto (m s de 80.000 usuarios en el ltimo a o), demuestra el inter s de los espa oles y residentes extranjeros por la gran cantidad de canales, tanto en HD como en SD, que se pueden recibir en Espa a a trav s de nuestros sat lites .
